Mobile Revolution and Nokia 1100

Nokia 1100 was a pretty-looking phone, luxuriously priced only for the stylish and trendy people back in the millennium decade. It was the time when the Mobile Revolution took off in India. Nokia 1100 was priced at around Rs. 4,000 (as per what I remember) when my Father decided that "we need a mobile phone now". As soon as Dad brought the phone home, I just took the box hurriedly from him and started to scan the minute prints over the Box.... frankly I could not understand a word...
I gently started opening the box of the Nokia 1100 which for me was something magical. Here it was.. the petite and beautiful Nokia 1100 at rest. Before I went any further I first took the Manual and thoroughly read through all the pages and made sure that I knew how this phone was supposed to be operated. It took me a day or two to understand the UI and keypad of the phone but after a month I was a PRO!
Nokia 1100 was a sturdy piece of technology that was not just trendy but also a very well built device.
Special Features of the Nokia 1100 were:
Flash Light
Snake Game
Vibrating alert
Monophonic Ring-tones
Custom Ring-tones
inbuilt contacts memory
(cant recall what other features this beauty had)
Nokia 1100 was such a great device that after almost two years since its launch it still stood as the market leader. 250 million handsets sold world over is a mark which no other phone ever achieved and I guess no Device will ever be able to acheive this feat. Without any Surprises the Second best-selling phone is Nokia 1110 with 150 Million Units which is accompanied by a list of Nokia models like 3210.
Even today when I go to buy a mobile, none of the Galaxy or the iPhone or the Lumia excites me the way Nokia 1100 did in 2003.
Yes, its evolution and what comes first is always unique but Nokia 1100 was definitely a path-breaker (read it as Path-Maker) and a perfect successor to all the older Mobile Phones.....
Nokia 1100 stands as one of the Protagonists of the Mobile Revolution that we are living in. With its sleek dimensions this device set the bar for all the future devices in terms of design, looks, built quality, and UI.
